Chocolate Dipped Marshmallows (Printer-friendly)

Fluffy marshmallows coated in rich chocolate and colorful sprinkles for a festive treat.

# What You’ll Need:

→ Marshmallows

01 - 24 large marshmallows

→ Chocolate

02 - 7 oz semi-sweet or milk chocolate, chopped

→ Decorations

03 - 1/2 cup assorted sprinkles

→ Optional Equipment

04 - 24 lollipop sticks or skewers

# How to Make It:

01 - Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and facilitate easy cleanup.
02 - If using sticks, carefully insert one lollipop stick or skewer into the center of each marshmallow, pushing about halfway through without piercing through the top.
03 - Place chopped chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring thoroughly after each burst, until completely smooth and glossy. Alternatively, melt in a heatproof bowl set over a pan of simmering water, stirring constantly.
04 - Holding each marshmallow by the stick, dip halfway into the melted chocolate. Gently twist and lift, allowing excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl for an even coating.
05 - Immediately sprinkle the chocolate-coated portion with assorted sprinkles while the coating remains wet, gently pressing to ensure adhesion.
06 - Transfer completed marshmallows to the prepared baking sheet. Allow chocolate to set at room temperature for approximately 30 minutes, or refrigerate for 10 minutes to accelerate firming.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • Twenty minutes from start to finish, including cleanup time
  • Customizable for any holiday, celebration, or random Tuesday craving
02 -
  • Chocolate that seizes turns grainy and unusable, so avoid getting any water or steam in your melting bowl
  • Room temperature marshmallows work better than refrigerated ones for getting the chocolate to adhere properly
03 -
  • Work in small batches of six to eight marshmallows at a time so the chocolate stays at the right consistency
  • Tap the dipped marshmallow gently against the bowl edge to remove excess chocolate before adding sprinkles
